I've been slacking on this blo

Okay so it is June 26th, 2011. I've went to my last crossfit class on Weds June 22nd and Friday June 24th. Lets start with the June 22nd class.

June 22nd

We learned how to do Med ball cleans. This took a me a lot of tries to be able to pop my shoulders up, rotate my elbows forward, squat down and catch the med ball WITHOUT tossing the med ball. I think I was thinking too much that day. I was over analyzing the concept. We also learned how to do a few bar lifts. A sumo bar squat and another type of bar squat lift. We did 25 back squats, but I went ahead and knocked out 50. We only had a 15 lb bar.

June 24th

In fundamentals class, we went over kipping pull ups and dips. Can we say ouch?! I did well kipping and needed the assistance of the band, but I did pretty well. We went to the rings to do dips and I had a hard time jumping up and stabilizing my body so I couldn't even do the dip. The instructor went ahead and got a box we could use to help get us on the rings. We also used a band to help rebound our weight back up while dipping. After doing a few of those, our fundamentals class was over. Next was the 10am Crossfit class. WOD was 400M run , 21-15-9 med ball cleans and situps. I finished in 8:42. There was a guy who finished before me at 8:01. The rest of the class finished their WOD and I cheered them on. I want everyone to succeed. :)

Saturday, my arms were hurting bad. Right by the deltoid and bicep. Since I could flex my elbow and not feel pain in my arm, I knew it wasn't my bicep. I couldn't laterally lift my arms. They felt as if they had been cut into. ouch! Today is Sunday and I am feeling a lot better. My stomach muscles are a little sore, but it's not bad at all. I am looking forward to tomorrows exercise. :)

Overall, I am learning to love Crossfit. It's hard work and I am sore the next few days but, I think it is worth it.

Crossfit Fundamentals Day 3

Well, today I was supposed to go in and do my second workout. However, my daughter woke me up with her vomiting. Ah, the joys of being a Mom. :) So, she is home as am I. I e-mailed my CF gym and asked if there was anything I can do at home to make up for a missed day. We'll see what they say.

P.S. My muscles aren't as sore as yesterday. :)

Crossfit Fundamentals Day 2

Well, today is an off day. I have class on Mondays, Weds, and Fri's. Today is Tuesday, June 7th 2011. My arms and legs are really sore. I have been stretching and doing what I can to ease the tension. I am starting to wonder how the heck I am going to be able to workout tomorrow if I am THIS sore tomorrow morning. What am I going to do? Maybe a nice, hot epson salt bath will help draw out the toxins and ease the soreness in my muscles. I guess I will have to wait and see. I'm just so nervous I go in tomorrow morning and can't perform. :-/

Crossfit Fundamentals Day 1

Yesterday, June 6th 2011, I went to Phalanx Crossfit in Sanford, NC. My friend referred me to this place and thought I should give it a try. I signed up a few days prior and attended my first class on Monday. The entire weekend my mind was brewing and all I could think was, "Am I doing the right thing?" Monday morning came and I arrived 15 minutes early. So, I sat in my car and tried to hype myself up so I could find the courage to actually walk through the front door. Well, I did. I went in and was pleasantly welcomed by my Crossfit coach, Tammy. At 0930 our session had begun and I was the only one there. We went through  four basic crossfit exercises. These are the box squat, box jump, pushups and situps. Tammy showed me how to do each move and had me do a few to make sure I understood the concept. Then she told me we would do 10 of each exercise and do them in four rounds. Oh, and don't forget, this is all timed. So, do your best and push them out as fast as you can. I did the four rounds in 8 minutes. By the third round, I felt nauseous, but I didn't let it stop me. After finishing the four rounds, I was told to hydrate and go home and shower. I walked out the doors with jello like arms and legs. This showed me how out of shape I was. This is going to take time and a strong mentality to get through the first two weeks of Crossfit fundamentals. Let's hope I can do it.
